    my Hard drive won’t be detected by my xbox


    I have tried all USB ports i have even bought a new 2TB seagate expansion and it still won’t work when i plug in my hard drive it give me all the options of media or games the naming of the hard drive and obviously to format and so when i click format and it takes me to the screen to change locations tell me why no option to direct it to the hard drive is there only let xbox decide and internal storage it’s so annoying and has cost me 2TB worth of games uninstalled and £70

    Which model Xbox One are you using please and are the drives you're using USB 3.0?

    Thank you. It may be an issue with the ports on the console then, if you haven't already we could try a factory reset but due to the age of the console and that it's no longer covered for repairs by Xbox it would be a toss up on whether it works or not.

    If you would like to try then you can start the reset via the Settings menu. When you start there will be an option to keep your installed games and apps and your saves will be safe on the Cloud.

    If this doesn't work then I'd say the issue would be with the ports. For that you could check your local gaming store to see if they offer a repair service.

    Hm, if i put the hard drive in the data transfer cable and then put the cable into my Xbox, it detects the hard drive as if it's actually plugged in itself, but if i remove the cable it says there's nothing detected. Strange.
