    My hard drive stopped working


    I have neen using my hard drive on both my xbox one when I had it and my series S from when I got it roughly 9 months ago, and it has been workingcompletely fine until today. My console recognises that my hard drive is plugged in but all of my stuff which was installed on there is now gone and there is nothing there however it says the storage on it is 100% full even though just yesterday I only had around 65% full, I don't know what happened or why it suddenly stopped working but if you can help I'd appreciate it.

    Hi Oddwildcat21, I hope you're doing great despite the issue you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

    It may mean that your external hard drive is corrupted which means that you may need to reformat the drive to use it again.

    1. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide, and then select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage.

    2. Select your device, and then select Format.

    Yes, you can of course use your USB Flash Drive to download your profile and play on Xbox LIVE normally until your new hard drive gets to you.

    Please follow the instructions here on how to configure a USB Flash Drive and
    download a profile.

    pretty sure you cannot the only option on that is to sadly format the drive as the system will not see any data on it for you to say back up the saves to a flash drive or something. good news is you only loose saves not anything bought or downloaded and
    you can get your account and all its game score back too.

    Try removing the hard drive, preferably with the console off, and then putting it back in. It might have had an issue.
