My hard drive doesn't work with my Xbox one...

ok, I haven't had ANY issues with my hardrive, ever. But today was different. My Xbox one shuts off when my ext. hard drive is connected. When the ext drive is not connected my Xbox can stay on. How do I make it so my Xbox doesn't shut off when my ext. drive
is connected.

Thanks Im going to try it on my friends xbox with my hard drive so if it doesn't work ill just get a new hard drive. Can u still buy them in shops though for the older versions like arcade ?

my 3.0 usb ports aren't working kinda

my usb ports are only working for a wireless controller but they don't work for this external hard drive i bought which doesn't give me the option to format, when i plug the external hard drive in it doesn't even turn on when connected to my xbox one but
it does for my computer

I'm in the same boat. I have a WD My Book 3TB. I plug it into my PC and it connects and reads the hard drive just fine. Even performed a drive test and it passed.

Hey there,

What sort of troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? Have you tied to switch USB ports on the console or disconnect other USB devices you're not using? Is your console plugged directly into a wall outlet as recommended?

My xbox one doesn't recognise my external hard drive when it worked perfectly fine on my 360.... doing my head in! Does any one know how to resolve this??

Yes I got a 16GB flash drive since I got my xbox. I use that one to store my savegames etc. But it doesn't work. It gives a message when I start the game up that I need a Hard Drive.

Now my Xbox sometimes turns on and sometimes it doesn't. It always turns on with the hard drive out. Could the hard drive be the problem? Because the last one I had the same thing happened but instead the hard drive became unformattable whenever I got my
Xbox to turn on.
