My games keep re-downloading everytime i transfer them across storage

This issue has happened multiple times. I download the game on my external storage and it runs perfectly. And then i transfer the game to my internal storage Because its convenient. But then after the transfer is complete, EVERYTIME i launch the game it
starts to "update" the game (despite the game's being up to date. And its basically the whole game being re-downloaded all over again. My data cap gets over every month because of this. This has so far occurred with the following games:

1. Red Dead 2

2. Control

3. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order

4. Rage 2

This has been happening since the past 3 months, it never troubled me before. Is it possible that the games get corrupted or something? Please help

Hey there,

Are you signed in with the account you downloaded the game with? Do you transfer the license as well or you don't need to?

After checking all that I would like you to go to settings --- system --- console info -- reset --- reset but keep my games and apps then try again.

Was trying to install it to my ExHDD because internal storage was full but i moved a game or two across to the external drive and tried downloading it straight to the internal storage instead. And it finally worked after all this time! Why is that? Every
other game I've downloaded, whether its a game i just bought or something I've decided to re-download never had this trouble but this is the exception... Weird!

You really only need to transfer your save game files. DLC you can re-download from your Download History. Your profile you can just re-download to the new storage device.

Happens to me everytime i play the game.Have to go to download history & re download them for them to be there.

It sounds like you need the recently added network transfer option, https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/console/enable-network-game-transfer-xbox-one.
This allows you to transfer your games and saves across your local network, at usually much faster speeds than re-downloading them again. Save game data is tied to your account, and will be retrieved when starting a game.
