Hey there Jack! Can you first try a direct connection to your modem with an ethernet cable to see if that helps. If not, try removing your current storage device and use a different one, either a Hard Drive or a USB device. Let us know how that goes, thanks!

please trying clearing your systems cache then restart your console and start game back up, this should allow you too download the update.

the reason may be that you have tried to download the update and the update was corrupted or incomplete which would cause for you to not play or even download the update again.

What's happening when you try to play? Do you have an active Xbox Live subscription by chance ?

 

Without knowing more about the issue, I would suggest the following:

1. Turn off the console and unplug it for 30 seconds. This clears cache.

2. If the games are on disc check this page:
https://support.xbox.com/xbox-one/console/disc-error

3. If the games are digital please remove and redownload your account:
http://support.xbox.com/my-account/manage-gamertag-and-profile/add-remove-account-xbox-one

4. Finally, please do a factory reset keeping games and apps, as this refreshes the entire console from many problems:

Settings > System > Console Info & Updates > Reset console > "keep games and apps". (requires account redownload).
