    Ok i made a xbox live account and then i set it all up and got a default gamertag but when i went to go change my gamertag to a custom one it said i had to pay but i asked customer service for xbox and they told me that i used it but i never used it and
    i was the only onwer for my xbox so i have no idea why its making my pay so could someone fix this and get me my free gamertag

    My police for judging gamertags is: if I can read it, it's perfet. Shmigloo is kind of readable, so it's kind of perfect.

    don't think your gonna get that free tag, the tag your posting with does not look like one of the default generated ones, I know as the system created one on my other account when i created a new windows live account so i could free up my windows live ID
    one JUST for 360 and use the other for MSN stuff. nobody but support can help you with your tag issue sorry.

    was it created on the PC or on the console that is the only other thing I can think of why it created a tag and it wont let you change it unless you pay it.

    I'm with davmcfly85, auto-generated gamertags have a series of numbers at the end and combine a list of words. I've never seen "Screaming" on that list... poor choice for a boy though... I mean being labeled a female sheep and all. In the end you'll have
    to pay the $10 because you did use your free name change already and was told this by support.

    I actually kind of like Screaming Ewe... it's unique.

    However if you personally do not like it you're welcome to pay the $10 USD to change it again.

    You only get the chance to change it for free if it's a generated gamertag & within 30 days of creating the account.

    The profile your posting on is well over a year old so you won't get a free change either way.

    Unable to change gamertag

    I'm trying to change my classic gamertag which is the one you see in games. My classic gamertag got changed and my Xbox One and Xbox App gamertag stayed the same (the Xbox One gamertag is the ones they added with the new gamertag system).

    My Xbox One gamertag is different to my in-game gamertag and I want my classic gamertag to be changed. You can only change your classic gamertag on the Xbox One console, I have tried using the other ways and you can only change your Xbox Gamertag, not your
    classic gamertag.

    The reason I want to change my classic gamertag is that the classic gamertag can be fifteen characters and the Xbox One gamertag can only be 12 characters. If I use the other ways to change my gamertag it limits me to 12 characters and sets both my gamertags
    to that.

    We are very aware of the websites that suggest this as a way to get a free gamertag change. You will notice that they have shut the thread down and it is over a year old. You will need to block communications and report those who are harassing you. But note
    that use of social engineering to obtain services is a violation of the code of conduct.

    forums.xbox.com/.../41.aspx     to find out why you received a forced name change, but it is likely your name was offensive in some way and somebody reported it.
