My Gamertag Was Stolen

I was about to change my gamertag to my YouTube channel name. I sent a message out to all of my friends saying that I might change my gamertag to TeamCRBNStudios, and one of my friends thought it would be funny to actually steal the gamertag, and put it
on a silver account. I just spoke to an xbox employee over the phone and he told me to come here to tell you, and you might actually get to issue the person who stole my gamertag a gamertag change. The only reason I am so upset and actually depressed about
this is because it was for no reason and my YouTube channel has been growing very much recently. Please enforcement team help me to get my gamertag back.

It doesn't matter how they did it. The tag was not stolen.

Please follow the instructions I posted above to report the claim of sale.

No one stole your gamertag. When you changed your gamertag it freed up the one you had for someone else to use. They paid the $10 to get it for their use. There was no wrongdoing here.

As for the attempted sale of said gamertag, that is against the ToU and CoC of the Live service and could result in the account being banned from the Live service. You can report the attempted sale by going to the tag's bio and selecting File Complaint

Also, nobody can "call" a gamertag, once a member of the Xbox Community claims the gamertag, they cannot be forced to give it up, Enforcement cannot remove the gamertag from use. Im very sorry, you will need to either wait until it is free (when the person
who has it changes his name) or choose another gamertag.

 

There's no way that anyone on the forums can do this for you.

Only the Enforcement Team can apply a forced name change, and even then only if it's offensive which would not apply to this one.

At this point I would suppose that your only means of recourse are to somehow appeal to your "friend" to change that Gamertag to something else to free up the name for your own change to that name. It would have to be at his expense, as he would also not
be offered a free change.

 

They put it on a silver account to troll me...

It's not in any use at all, like I said... there's no point to just have an Xbox Live account running for literally no reason.
