My gamertag was stolen.

My gamer tag was originally Nickhye, i changed it to another just to have some fun with some friends. When i wanted to change back, it says that Nickhye has been taken, and when i looked him/her up, that person has already taken it. So i messaged them
and said that that was my gamer tag, they then said to me that i had to pay 120$ in order to retrieve my gamer tag back. That account is now occupied by someone that will never be using it again.

I was about to change my gamertag to my YouTube channel name. I sent a message out to all of my friends saying that I might change my gamertag to TeamCRBNStudios, and one of my friends thought it would be funny to actually steal the gamertag, and put it
on a silver account. I just spoke to an xbox employee over the phone and he told me to come here to tell you, and you might actually get to issue the person who stole my gamertag a gamertag change. The only reason I am so upset and actually depressed about
this is because it was for no reason and my YouTube channel has been growing very much recently. Please enforcement team help me to get my gamertag back.

No one stole your gamertag. When you changed your gamertag it freed up the one you had for someone else to use. They paid the $10 to get it for their use. There was no wrongdoing here.

As for the attempted sale of said gamertag, that is against the ToU and CoC of the Live service and could result in the account being banned from the Live service. You can report the attempted sale by going to the tag's bio and selecting File Complaint
the follow the instructions listed.

 

They created a new account just for a free gamer tag change, i know this. This person asked me to give him 120$ to have it back. I wouldn't post on the forum if it wasn't serious.

 

It doesn't matter how they did it. The tag was not stolen.

Please follow the instructions I posted above to report the claim of sale.
