    My gamertag was changed. Couldn't log in to Xbox Live!


    Trying to get my original gamertag back and seach says its in use. BECAUSE it's MINE. What happened. I just spent an hour chatting with xbox support and no answers. Does this sound like a hack-job?

    Are you logged in with a US gamertag? Might want to check the country it is assigned to on xbox live website

    Account hacked

    Someone hacked my account and changed the gamertag associated with my account. I can't log in to xbox live on my game console, and the account settings box isn't even lit. The gamertag that show when I log on to xbox live isn't mine. What can I do?

    It looks like you were given a forced name change. The enforcement team issues a forced name change if your gamertag violates the code of conduct. For an official answer as to why it was changed, you will need to post here -

    If the gamertag was forced, it means that you couldn't even access the XBox Live service until you changed the gamertag to one that abides by the Code of Conduct.

    On second thought, if that person is still logged into Xbox Live, would that prevent me from changing my gamertag? Would I just have to wait it out until they log off for me to change it?

    Account.Microsoft.com and confirm you are logging in with the Microsoft account you wish to use. Once logged in, head over to
    Xbox.com and log in with the same Microsoft account. This should log you in to the Gamertag associated with the account in the first attempt you mentioned above. At that point you
    can use that Gamertag as is you can
    change your Gamertag    . Post back and let me know how this works for you!
