My gamertag only changed in apps and games.

The other day, I wanted to change my gamertag. I paid my 10 dollars to change it, and when I got online, to my dismay, it only changed in apps, that I can already change my name in for free. I found it very inconvenient, and I am very upset, as a person
who likes to play a lot, that I paid 10 dollars for something that is free. If there is a way to fix this, please respond. Thank you.

Its only free for the first time but since you had an custom one previously then you dont get another

I'm trying to change my classic gamertag which is the one you see in games. My classic gamertag got changed and my Xbox One and Xbox App gamertag stayed the same (the Xbox One gamertag is the ones they added with the new gamertag system).

My Xbox One gamertag is different to my in-game gamertag and I want my classic gamertag to be changed. You can only change your classic gamertag on the Xbox One console, I have tried using the other ways and you can only change your Xbox Gamertag, not your
classic gamertag.

The reason I want to change my classic gamertag is that the classic gamertag can be fifteen characters and the Xbox One gamertag can only be 12 characters. If I use the other ways to change my gamertag it limits me to 12 characters and sets both my gamertags
to that.

I am on Windows 8.1. When I tried to install SmartGlass, it would not let me as I don't have an Xbox. I only have a PC. That's my ultimate dilemma.

When I use the Games app pre-installed on my Windows 8 device to change my gamertag, it takes be back to the "How to change your gamertag on your Xbox 360" page.

I'm now pretty convinced that the only way you can change it is if you have an Xbox. :/

So the "Xbox one console and Xbox apps" gamertag wont show a suffix in games that support it?

My last gamertag had a suffix for both so i have no idea which of the two gamertags was being used. Basically, if i were to change my gamertag to the ones in the picture, will the "Xbox one console and Xbox apps" gamertag show a suffix in game?

With the new gamertag system, you're allowed to have two gamertags at once. This means you can have both a twelve character and a fifteen character gamertag. The twelve character gamertag will appear on systems and apps, while the fifteen character gamertag
will appear in games that don't support the new gamertag change (Which is about 99% of games).

An example of this can be found
here. On apps and Xbox system related stuff (Parties, friends lists, etc.) I'll appear as Madam Sukii (With right below it). But when I go in-game, my gamertag will instead show up as .

As of the moment, the only way you can really do this is through changing your gamertag as usual. You'll just need to click "Customize" on the second gamertag below
to change what will appear in game.
