My gamertag isnt allowed yet it doesnt have anything inappropriate in it

I apologize but according to Xbox Support:

"If you receive a message that says a gamertag is unavailable, this means that you'll need to try another. The gamertag that you're trying to create is either inappropriate for the Xbox service or can't be used at this time."

It may just mean that it can't be used, Ross, and kindly try a different Gamertag just to make sure.

It's possible that that gamertag is linked to a banned account which is why it is coming up as not allowed.

As it's a 4 letter tag i suspect it would of been taken years ago & at some point got into trouble & was banned.

If this is the case it may never be made available.

I have the same problem as you, except that it's the Gamertag I want to change to that is not allowed, but it WAS allowed just a few hours ago. I'm wondering why, since the Gamertag in question is not offensive or inappropriate.

well no you cant check availability of a gamertag unless you actually try and change the name

sending a msg to the gamertag doesnt work becuase it doesnt cross servers

games for windows account and zune does use the same system but doesnt accept msgs well at lesst zune doesnt

if the systen says when you change the gamertag that it isnt available it isnt

you will have to be more creative like replacing letters with numbers or change the spelling

also spacing doesnt make a name different so is the samr as the same as ngoc pho for example
