My gamertag got changed, now I have to pay?

Hi my old gamertag "[Mod Removed]" got changed to CleanBunny33590 and I had an email sent to me saying it was offensive.

So now I am stuck with this generated gamertag and can't change it because I don't have any money.

I would gladly change it as the stupid gamertag had been giving me some problems over the year.

Need help with gamertag

Got sent here by Xbox support hoping to sort out my gamertag issue it says I have changed my gamertag for free when I personally haven’t and now I have to pay to change it

It sounds like to me that this was a forced gamertag change, and you said that you recieved an email about it being offensive as well. Right now the only way to change the gamertag again is to pay the rate of a normal gamertag change.

What difference does it make if it was forced or not?

 

Forced name changes are given because your gamertag violated the code of conduct. Too many forced name changes and your account will get banned.

 

In the past if your name was found offensive you would get a prompt saying you cannot sign into Live until you change it. but too many people were just using that free change to make a tag just as bad so the PET decided to do the automated random tag instead.
so if you want to blame anybody for not being able to change it for free blame those who abused the free name change thing.
