My GamerTag contains my full name.

Hello!

Some years ago when I created my GamerTag I didn't think things through and put my full name as my GamerTag. I was wondering, if you could let me change it to something else, without the 800MP fee.

and what would be the issue you are inquiring about?

having your full name isn't going to do anything as you are one in 50m xbox live users

among billions in the world

if you want a name change you will have to pay 10bucks just like every other service

I wouldn't suggest you keep googling iffy stuff

too many name changes only lead to account bans

and even then a forced name change only gives you a random name

Thanks Toad, I'll give a try at that forum.

It's really the principal of the thing about not paying for a name change. It's not like I chose a bad one that I got sick of, it's that I really don't want my name as my gamertag at all.

Well, you have three options to change your name -

1) Create a new gamertag.

Simple and to the point. This tag is brand new, has next to no gamerscore, and I doubt you bought anything (your game history shows only a single game), so you have no licences to lose. Even if you do, your new account should be able to use any content your
old account bought as long as you're on the same console.

2) Receive a forced name change.

Your gamertag is in violation on the terms of use, so a report against you would be as legit as if your gamertag contained the f-bomb. However, there are issues with this. First, you'll need to be reported on Xbox live, and there is no way to report someone
you've never played with. Second, it takes time for reports to go through - it might take weeks or months. Finally, having a FNC (forced name change, not free name change) is a violation against your account. XBLPETs (essentially the xbox police - they bust
all the cheaters, hackers, bad-language users, and other rule-breakers) will see your history and see a FNC. If you insist on a forced name change, you might as well post on this section ----> http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/f/41.aspx <-----
and ask for one. That's where the XBLPETs are in the fourms.

3) Pay 800 Microsoft points.

Yes, they normally sell for $10. But there is no violation history for paid name changes.
