my gamertag changed automatically, i don't know what to do

My gamertag was changed automatically to Itchycub200671 i think. but i'm not sure if its cause my old gamertag was inappropriate or not. My friend set up my gamertag and account when i was at work one day and i didn't even want the gamertag but don't have
the spare money to get it changed with all my money going towards my three kids. I was wondering if there was any way possible to get it switched to something of my choice and something appropriate without the $9.99 fee.

So I bought halo wars 2 ultimate edition from the Microsoft store about three weeks before Christmas, knowing I wouldn't get halo wars 2 because it was a preorder but I do know I was soppse to get halo wars 1 definitive edition. I haven't gotten any notifications
or codes sent to my email or Xbox account about the code for it. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do to get the code for it?

 

Unfortunately you are stuck with the new one until you can afford to pay the 9.99. They used to give you a chance to change it for free - they ended that practice when people would just create another inappropriate Gamertag.

 

Think were all experiencing this, its out of order that we have to pay without given the chance to change it

 

It is not "out of order" when you were given the chance to create an "E" for everyone Gamertag. It is all part of the agreement when you signed up for gold. Again they used to give you a chance to change it - and people would again create something obscene.

 

So why has it taken 3yrs and i never play online so no1 can report me? Is the word *** offensive? All blokes have them!

Well I cannot see what you typed so I am assuming it is not an allowed word. All it takes is one complaint in order for them to change it. Eventually all the "blokes" who have it will be given a new one. As for why it took 3 years. Not sure. Enforcement
never reads this forum so good question.

 

i understand where they coming from, but its messed up for people that want to make their own, isn't that part of a profile, our own xbox identity? like they just gave me a name like hitler gave the jews a number in those camps. like i didn't even want the
gamertag my friend set up, but i could never change it to something of my choice and more appropriate cause like i said i have diapers and bottles and formula for three kids. you'd think if it was such a problem for them then they would have it set up where
u can't make ur gamertag inappropriate at all. like it wouldn't let you use that gamertag unless it was appropriate. I'd put my new gamertag up on here to show them its not inappropriate but then someone else would steal it before i could change it. so i guess
im just stuck with this stupid gamertag for ever. might as well just switch over to sony

@Radiant - You create a obscene or un-allowed gamertag on Sony they close the account. Plus you cannot change your Gamertag.

 

They dont even let you go ahead with an obscene tag on PSN. I use both xbox and PS, and ive never had any trouble on the PSN. All we ask is for it to be change for free and authorised by the team.

 

@Itchy - not sure how you even came to compare Hitler with Microsoft. We are talking about genocide. How can a father of 3 children even go to this depth? Again - you need to blame the countless numbers of people who were given a "chance" to repair their
mistakes when they created the Gamertag. These people cared about nothing and just created another poor choice. I have been through the diaper & struggling phases and have 3 wonderful children. They no what rules are - again I feel you are sort of blowing
this way out of proportion.

 

@axe- im not saying microsoft is like hitler or anywhere near as bad, and i do agree it is the countless number of ignorant people that ruined it for everyone. What was getting at is that everyone that you play with see's your gamertag, its your name. and
yes my friend was one of them ignorant people when he created my account. but microsoft just took matters into their hands and chose my name without even giving me options. if they were that concerned about people making inappropriate names then they should
have had a sensor or have someone to pass or ok a gamertag when people create them. you have to do it on xbox live when you create or change one anyways. I didn't want the name my friend made and i don't want the one they gave me. im a respectful and responsible
person so i lose the option to create my own name, identity, gamertag because of eveyone else. @axe- if one of your kids break something of yours do you take the toys away from all three of the kids? or just punish the one who was misbehaving? thats all im
trying to say. im just not doing a good job of explaining and getting my point across. but i hear and understand what your saying and agree with you, just feel that microsoft is lazy or taking the wrong route about it all. i mean fine if people keep making
inappropriate gamertags then fine, then the least they can do is just keep making them chose something else or set up some kinda three strike thing.
