My game has no sound...

I just purchased fallout 4 on my xbox one x from the xbox store. But when I started it there was no sound... Why? I can't find a solution to the problem. The sound works fine when I am on the xbox home page and other games as well. Tried using different
headsets and controllers and also speakers.

The problem is still there. I don't know what to do, the sound works perfectly everywhere exept for Fallout 4... Why, and how do I fix it?

(I am playing on a pc monitor, not a TV.)

Just to be clear, I have sound in the menues on the xbox. But I do not have any sound at all when I try to play and game that I have installed except for one game. In ghost recon wildlands the sound works perfectly for some reason. I have not changed anything,
one day the sound just disapeared for some reason and I don't know why....

My headset has no sound.

The port you use should not matter, check the headset, if it's not on mute try using a different headset... if you and your sister are in the same house see if you can switch her long enough just to see if your headset is having problems.

If you still have the problem it may be the headset jack on your controller.

 

You have a couple options. The most drastic is to completely uninstall the game and reinstall. Before doing that what are you using for a sound output setting on the console? If using HDMI try setting it to stereo uncompressed and setting optical to off.

I've tried to reinstall the game but nothing happened. Changing the settings didn't work at all. Tried other games, and I noticed that the sound only works on SOME of the games, like ghost recon wildlands for an example. I have 8 games installed and the
sound only works on Ghost recon wildlands. But the sound is always fully functional when brosing the store etc. Do I need to return the xbox and get a new one maybe?

Do you have a headset you can try to see if you get sound that way?

First step i suggest you to power cycle the console, and try again...

If this doesn't work, then try to uninstall, then power cycle the console, reinstall and then try again...

So you have a clear base when you install again the game!

I'm always using a headset and I've tried different ones on different controllers. The sound still works when you are not running any game or app. but as soon a game starts there is no sound.

What are your actual settings for audio?

Speaker audio:

HDMI audio - Headset format

Optical audio - Headset format

Bitstream format - Off

Headset audio:

Headset format - Windows Sonic for Headphones

Using HDMI or optica audio headset, not checked = no

Then it says:

"All audio is optimised for headsets right now. Once you unplug your headset, it'll go back to normal."

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the games, power cycle the console when the games were uninstalled and the installd everything again. Problem still there... The thing is that one of my eight games does have sound before I uninstalled everything and
powercycled the xbox. And after I installed everything again it still only works on one game, one game only...

Since it is only happening in game and everything else is working, I think that it might be a glitch with the game itself or how the console is loading it.

I would recommend doing what we call in the biz, a soft factory reset.

It will reset your console without having you have to install all your games all over.

I recommend following the steps in

Reset and keep my games & apps.

Make sure that before you do so, that you know the sign in information for any gamertag that you have on the console and that you have internet access so that everything goes smoothly with this process, and let me know if this resolved your issue.
