My friends can hear my audio through my headset

I have an xbox headset and samsung earbuds. I thought it was the headset but no because I've tried on 3 different controllers and the same problem occurs.

What headset are you using? Are you using an original Xbox headset, or are you using a third party headset like Astro or Turtle Beach and the likes?

press the home button and scroll down to the speaker icon on the screen, once there you will see sliders for different volumes, select the mic monitoring and select the controller not the person icon.

Did you buy the adapter used?

I've had a few of the adapters and they've all ended up doing this. Only thing that worked was replacing it. Guy at the store where I bought it from mentioned that he's seen this problem quite often.

• Try your Headset on another controller, if you can. If the headset works on the second controller, try
  updating the first controlleragain.
  If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the
  Xbox Online Service Center.
