My friend is online but it says he’s offline and We can’t talk to each other

No its not a party chat issue, when i look at my friend list it says he is offline even though he isn't and i can't talk to him. It also seems like we don't get each others messages and notifications

I am on Xbox. My friend is on PlayStation. I know he linked his account successfully because after he did it I could find his tag on Xbox.

I added him to friends but he is listed as offline and when he or me creates an online game session we don’t see each other games in the session list

Please help.

My friend did not report me i literally quoted him. We are both now wondering if we should just go back to email and using a pc.

My friend has no friend we are each others friend and that is all

I have everything set to friend. He has everything set to friend

we only talk to each other so somehow somewhere someone is seeing what we say. Its private conversations about games and us showing silly clips to each and talking about a game we like or dont like or the price or if its fun or not. We swear occassionally. We dont troll people. We dont bother anyone. We play on xbox together and that is it.

They appear offline both in friend list and in game

My NAT is open, my friend has moderate. He couldn't get it to be open in any way.

We are all connecting using cable.

We checked all settings many times.

One other thing. We have one friend that appears online and we can join him. When we both join him in Forza Horizon 4 we can play together, but it's only when that one friend is also playing. We still appear offline to each other and to him. And without him
we have no way to join a game together.
