My First Couple of Hours on Nightmare

Being a novice achievement hunter, you get accustomed to playing on the hardest level. I rolled a Warrior, and proceeded to get worked over; bout 3 tries to beat the tutorial boss. Then my second encounter with the Templars, took about 15.

Now with that said, I've played Age 1 and 2, and started Inquisition with the same way. No, that is the wrong way to play. The tactical pause isn't a suggestion. It felt like I had defeated an end boss after that fight against 4 Templars. After
a few more hours struggling with tactics I decided to try my hand as a mage. This time it was a whole new world, I don't know if it's the group setup of two mages, varric and a Tank, or if it's just my thought process, but it felt easy enough that I had
to check the difficulty settings.

Just checking with the group to see if they have notice anything similar? Biggest thing i've killed has been a giant on the coast. Anyone taken on a dragon yet on nightmare?

Holy crap Shadow of Mordor is Hard!!

It's hard for the first couple hours, until you get a few upgrades...

And then you'll be an Orc horde's worst nightmare.

 

My First Nightmare

I've just started playing Alan Wake today, and must say that I'm really impressed with the atmospherics within the game!

I love this type of game - Condemned Criminal Origins & Silent Hill 2 being my all-time faves of the horror / thriller genre.

I've only just arrived at the holiday lodge & started up the light generator in the shack, so please, no spoilers in replies!

 

My go to team is 3 mages and one Tank. Iron bull as a Reaver damage dealer, Vivianne as a Mage healer and Damager, Dorion as a Necomancer and all round spirit damager with back up barrier capabilities and my main as a full on Damage Anti corrupt demon killer.
Once you Craft armor with secondary powers like Hidden blades and Tower fights are completely different.

 

I have just reached Skyhold on Hard difficulty and I am starting to wish I started on Nightmare. I ran my first character on hard and that tester boss beat me several times. I decided to rerun as the tank and it was much easier the second time. I was playing
a Rogue first time, I usually always play as a Rogue.

Now I have got further the game is getting too easy on Hard, perhaps I overlevelled a bit in the Hinterlands and such. But I have got a little too far with this character to start again and I won't bother upping the difficulty without the achievement to
show for it.

Instead I have bought a 360 version used on Ebay and I will play through that and 100% it as a Rogue again. I think it is a case of toughing it out early on and then when the gear and skills improve it becomes more manageable.

I am enjoying the game enough to play through twice for sure. I should have started on nightmare to begin with but that first boss and group in Hinterlands seemed so hard on hard, I figured Nightmare would frustrate the hell out of me
