    My "Fellowship of the Rings" extended DVD won't play


    Other DVD and Blu-Ray disks work. This disk is pristine and works in my laptop and desktop.

    I see a thread that this has been an issue for over a year. Is there any update on this?

    Very odd and annoying. My Xbox One won't play DVD version of Fellowship of the Rings Extended Edition. That's the 4 disc green box version. Plays back the Two Towers and Return of the King, but not any of the 4 DVDs in Fellowship. Also doesn't playback 3D
    blurays, though I just read on Cnet that this was a known issue before launch. Also a generally snowy image when looking close at images, especially black and near black.

    This question was "answered" three months ago. Is there any news on the LOTR Special Extended Edition DVD playback issue? Fellowship just gets a black screen. Two Towers and Return of the king will play. Have re-installed the BD/DVD software, performed a
    full power cycle (power down, unplug, wait, plug in, power up, retry DVD playback) and nothing. Fellowship is just a black hole of nothingness. None of the fellowship discs work.

    Seems like it's a software problem on Microsoft's side, but it does not seem like they are getting on it at all.

    Sorry you're having problems playing your movie. Viewing another thread with this same issue it looks like Microsoft is aware of the issue and they're trying to fix it. I would do as Ms Quinzel suggests and contact the manufacturer of the DVD to see if they
    have replacement copies that play correctly for you.
