    My external hard drive will not install games Windows 11


    The external device i am using is a Seagate but whenever I try to download a game on it it starts the download but it doesn't continue and stays still, the furthest I've gotten it to go is 2.6GB but it wont continue past the, I've tried other games besides the one I'm downloading and it does the same thing.

    I think it's the best thing to do, mate. I recommend you do a clean install. I burn the Windows ISO to a flash drive, boot to the flash drive and format my hard drives and install Windows. I did this when I installed Windows 11 to avoid issues that could be loaded from the previous system. I only saved personal stuff like files and images to an external hard drive.

    I would try to do a clean install of the system, mate. I haven't installed Windows 11 yet waiting for the launch but I will copy the system image to a flash drive, save the important files on an external hard drive and format the hard drives and install Windows. I like to do this so as not to bring anything buggy from the previous system.

    Hi, sorry for that issue, the problem is the external hard drive, for some reason (I don't know why), the games that require Administrator approval have issue on external drive.
    Thanks for the answer. External hard drive it is not the problem in my case. While trying to find a solution to this Xbox Game pass for PC / Windows Store error I did reinstall Windows 10 on my iMac's internal hard drive. The problem with error 0x8007001f
    persists even when Windows 10 is installed on the internal hard drive.

    My laptop has an SSD and an HDD, would the HDD work instead of the external hard drive? Windows 11 is running on the SSD not HDD.
