My external hard drive is not letting me play games from it directly on series S, while it’s a usb 3.0 wd external hard drive, it’s not giving me an option to store or download games in it, only option is to view files or store clips.

I formatted it to ntfs, not sure what else to do

Hello Rahul, on new generation consoles Series S/X you can only run new generation games from the console's internal hard drive.

The games of the previous generation One S and One X you can play directly from your external HD.

Yes, that might be the reason, it might not have the necessary writing and reading speed.

when you plug it in with the console on it should ask your to format for games and apps, if not then the controller on the external hdd could be duff

When I connect the external hard drive to play old gen games from HD, it doesn’t allow me to add games or even save clips, I tried looking more into it and seems my HD is too slow (it’s usb 3.0, maybe because it’s old?)
