My external hard drive causes my Xbox to lose connection to the internet.

I have a original xbox one. Many years ago i had a problem with My Internet. Eventually I got a ethernet cord and plugged it in and I have had no problem since then. Although last Saturday I bought an external hard drive from the Microsoft store and ever
since Saturday my connection has been getting disrupted and/or losing connection. Its hard to stay in a party and trying to play a game is almost a lost cause.

That's a very odd thing to happen. Can you try using wifi as opposed to ethernet and see if the issue is consistent?

Is it possible the problem is my internet connection, external hard drive, or even my xbox profile?

I only have an external hard drive connected . My Xbox is connected to internet via Ethernet cord.

Yes, I have an external hard drive connected to my Xbox, and the game appears to be installed on the external hard drive.

I am playing Skyrim on my xbox one at home, with a wi fi connection to high speed internet. Very close (6 feet) to the router.

I do have 2 hard drives, the standard drive in the xbox one (500 gb) with 175 gb of free space, and an external hard drive with a few games on it. But Skyrim is on my internal hard drive.

My external hard drive causes my Xbox to lose connection to the internet.
