My Ext. Hard Drive shuts my XBONE off/crashes

The usb cable itself is fine, but everytime I connect it to the cable, then into the Xbox, the console immediatly shuts off and restarts itself.

I’ve kept the ex drive in and pushed the power button once, then the xbox logo popped up, froze, started tweaking out and then shut off yet again.

I’ve tried plugging the drive in after I turn the XB off and I’ve tried doing it before hand. I get the same disappointing results.

I used my external drive for extra space so most of my games are on there, and I cant even play them. No, I cant go into the settings in look in it that way either. Wont stay on long enough to, it just crashes.

i dont have enough space on internal drive for the games that I want. (So yeah Im aware your games save on the cloud but I dont have enough storage for that so I really need my external drive to work)

My ext drive is a Toshiba External USB 3.0 Storage Drive:

This is the only extra storage that I have with my stuff on it, I just really need it to work for the Xbox. It shows up as a device on my computer so I dont know what’s going on.

It was working perfectly fine (and I had it for a while) before, but one day I wake up and it wont let me use the ex drive on my console.

I dont know what to do. I’ve tried searching Google AND support pages but
nothing helped.

Can someone help me please? Anyone else had the same problem?

Is there an official link on how to reformat it then? Because I thought I did that but it still doesnt work so I want to make sure I follow the instructions right again

-or a link on how the drive could’ve gotten corrupted so I can make sure this doesnt happen again and have some more insight?

Unfortunately, it did not work either.

it was on instant-on , i followed the steps and tried plugging the ext storage back in and it was on for just a moment, shut down, then came back on by itself and it immediately cut off.

Hey there AyeYaya!

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue.

Have you tried all the usb ports on the console?

Also, have you tried checking out and trying the steps outlined in
Troubleshoot Xbox One unexpectedly turning off?

Please give those steps a shot and let us know how that went.

Yeah. No luck, and its not that my XBONE doesnt detect it, its more so I cant even cut it on long enough to do anything about it.

The problem is that it IS being detected and as soon as the happens it shuts my console down.
