Is there any way to speak to someone about my issue with being logged into 2 different accounts for the same email. None of the help articles deal with this and you cannot speak to an individual. If I log into the browser, it takes me to the correct account. If I log in on the app it takes me to some generic account that is not mine. I have tried to fix the sign in options in windows settings. This is for a Windows 11 OS. I have spent hours trying to figure this out and cannot. I have tried changing the alias email and it won't send me the code I need i try to login with the phone number and it signs me into a 3rd different account!!!!!

My email logs me into two different accounts depending on whether im in the app or the browser

Hello, and thanks for getting in touch. I'm Aileen, and I'm here to provide you with advice as an Independent Advisor. Please be reminded that I cannot access or modify your account because this is a public forum.

I hear you, Zach — dealing with what feels like multiple accounts tied to one email can be really frustrating, especially when the app and browser don’t behave the same way. Based on what you described, it sounds like you're running into a Microsoft account conflict — possibly caused by cached credentials, alias confusion, or the Windows 11 sign-in system pulling in a different account than expected.

Let’s break this down into steps that can help:

Step 1: Confirm which account is which

First, sign in using the browser (the one that works correctly), then go to this link:

    https://account.microsoft.com/profile

    Take note of:

Your exact Microsoft Account (email) shown there

Any aliases or linked accounts under your info

Now do the same on the app side:

Open the Xbox or Microsoft Store app

Go to Settings > Account or your profile icon

See what email and gamertag/profile are being used there

Compare the two. In many cases, you might be getting auto-signed into a local or unrelated account due to previous sessions, or if you're using a Windows-linked work/school account instead of your personal Microsoft account.

Step 2: Clear and reset app sign-in on Windows 11

Sign out of the Microsoft/Xbox app and Store completely.

Open Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts

Remove any entries that don’t belong or are duplicates

    Then go to:

Settings > Accounts > Access work or school

If there’s anything listed here you don’t use (like a work/school account), disconnect it.

    Restart your computer.

Sign back into the Microsoft Store and Xbox app using the same email that works in your browser.

Step 3: Handle alias and code issues

You mentioned you're not receiving a code when trying to change the alias — that might be due to:

    Spam or junk filtering

The alias email being mistyped or blocked

Microsoft security protection (especially if you tried too many times)

    Here’s what you can try:

    Visit https://account.live.com/names/Manage to manage aliases

If you're not receiving a code, use a different backup method (like another email or authenticator app)

Double-check that the security info listed is up to date here:

    https://account.live.com/proofs/manage

If you’ve lost access to the account completely or are getting routed into the wrong one repeatedly, you may need to fill out the Account Recovery Form:

    https://account.live.com/acsr

That’s the only way to request a manual account recovery when nothing else works. It doesn’t give you direct human support, but it's the official path Microsoft uses to resolve account identity conflicts.

I know it’s a lot to go through, but this kind of issue is usually tied to leftover sign-in data or conflicting profiles on the same device. Once you clear the app login cache and align your account across browser and app, it should stick going forward.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Looking forward to your response.

Cannot cancel my game pass subscription

Is there any way for me to tell what account the subscription is on? In my xbox app it doesn't say what email account it's tied to, and the browser seems to be logged into my main email account.

i have two accounts that have the same emails same password but one i use primary and the other i made by accident but when i try to login to my main account it logins to the account made on accident.

I have two accounts with identical email addresses and passwords, one of which I use for my Xbox and the other of which I created accidentally, but when I attempt to log into my primary account, it logs into the accidental account, and I'm not sure what to do.
There has to be some sort of slight difference in the emails. Even if its just a very minor difference.

Its not possible to have two different Microsoft/Xbox accounts under the same exact email address.

How else would it know what account to log you into if it allowed you to have two accounts under the same email? It just wouldn't.

    Xbox App Sign-In Trouble

So I just fixed this issue ... I am using ios

I opened up the default browser (safari in my case) and noticed it was trying to sign me in with the typo email on live.microsoft.com

So I signed in with the correct account and went back to the app ... now the login screen reset to the beginning. After logging into my gamepass app I was also able to login automatically to the xbox app as well.

So just open your default browser on your phone and log into the correct account

    EA Desktop on PC

Thank you for the reply. So, I've been unable to link the account on EA's end but my Xbox app is still showing that the two accounts are linked even after logging out and restarting. When I click to 'manage' the account through the Xbox app, it simply opens a browser to EA's homepage. Is there a way for me to unlink the accounts on Microsoft's side?
