This issue could be a firmware or connectivity issue. Try updating your controller's firmware by connecting it via USB and restarting both your controller and your Xbox.

1. Update your controller's firmware.

Go to Settings, Devices and Connections, Controllers and Headsets on your Xbox.

Check for firmware updates for your controller.

If an update is available, download and install it.

2. Connect via USB.

Use a USB cable to connect your controller to your Xbox.

Check to see if the buttons work when connected via USB. If they do, there is likely an issue with your wireless connection.

This happened to me just the other day. I turned on my xbox as I usually do but none of the buttons on my controller would work, and yes my controller was indeed connected to my xbox. Only the home button would work as it would bring up the turn off controller
or turn off xbox menu. The analog stick would not respond and neither would any of the other buttons. I even tried multiple controllers. A simple hard reset fixed the issue and I have had no interruptions since then.

hi my elite 2 controller don't respond anymore.

not one button, stick or paddles work but the controller is "on"= "home button" has light on...

i can't turn the controller off

when i open the accessories app there is only my standard controller displayed.

connecting to xbox with usb cable doing nothing

when i put them in the case: no "vibration"

on the elite 1 you can simply remove the battery but on elite 2 it's impossible.

is there a trick to turn the controller off and on?

My console is the Xbox series X. My controller stopped working last night while I was playing a game and it said reconnect controller but it was still on. I’ve tried holding the pairing button but nothing happened. I’ve tried taking it out of range of my Xbox to see if it would shut off. I’ve tried restarting and unplugging my Xbox. But my elite controller still has the light on and won’t do anything. Even the button to change paddle presets isn’t turning those lights on.

One controller will work but the other won’t be able to connect as another player but can do the basics like turn off the console or go to the home page.
