My disc is unrecognizable, but I played it a week ago.

My game doesn't have any serious scratches. I have bought used games from gamestop. And neither worked the games are minecraft and deadrising 1

GTA:V "Play Disk" install workaround

I had to install both discs as my disc kept reading 'unrecognizable' during play.

Disc-drive problem, not the game.

No problems since I've installed both discs though, plus my Xbox is much quieter.

Same problem, I also traded the copy in for different one with no success. Then I tried it on another Xbox I have and it did not work either. I tried all the home remedies and no luck. I have an older Xbox (not the slim one) and I feel that this is an issue
only with the older ones because all my friends with newer Xbox's are online playing. Mine either just comes up with "Open Tray" or "Unrecognizable Disc" and sometimes from pure luck it works and then freezes after load screen and says disc not readable.

On a side note, I played MW3 several weeks ago and It was doing the unreadable disc message during the middle of the game after an update from xbox. This could be just my disc but it was very familiar to the same error I am getting now.

persistent storage option and clear it. Once cleared please
perform a power cycle on the console. Please let us know how it goes.

Try giving the discs a clean with a soft lint free cloth, and see if that helps.

 

I have done this before never works

 

I bought it a year ago and it work then

it's like it had and expiration date

but it did work a week ago

what do you mean like uninstall all xbox updates.

Thanks for replying. In relation to what solution Nestor is providing you, essentially it will roll back the latest update and then you'll need to power cycle your 360 as well as your network hardware and the update should come back in for installation.
Essentially, something may have happened last time the update installed and it may have gone in incorrectly and this should correct it. Just be sure that you've got a stable connection for your console with the internet and Xbox Live beforehand. If possible,
a wired connection if you don't already have it hard-wired with an Ethernet cable.
