My digital installed game is no longer working after I cancelled gamepass

I got the minecraft digital version (it comes with a code and i downliaded it onto my xbox, no issues). Some time later i got gamepass, and now i decided to cancel my prescription because i wasnt using it and it was a watse of money for me. Now when i try to launch minecraft it says i need to renew my gamepass subscriptipn in order to play because i dont “own the game” even though i do. I cant exactly pop in the disc because it was a digital code, i tried to redeem the code again but its already been redeemed (by me.) Does anyone know the fix to this?

I highly recommend following the troubleshooting steps here:

After each step try to see if the issue is fixed!

First, please select System > Settings > account > remove accounts and then select your account and select Remove to confirm.

Then, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds, until the console shuts off, then unplug the power cord and wait for 2 to 3 minutes before plugging it back in and turn on the Xbox.

If the issue persists, please try to check your games in the order games history in this following website : Microsoft account | Home

If you are still encountering the same issue, please select System > Settings > System > Console info > Select Reset console > Choose Reset and keep my games and apps.

Note =>The "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not cause losing your games, but please be aware that you need to be completely aware of the email address as well as the password of your account before going for it because it will require you to sign in to the account.

just uninstall and reinstall minecraft. should fix the issue.

You should uninstall the game from gamepass. It is a digital game which you can no longer play so you are now required to install the disc based game.

Hey, sorry about taking so long to reply, I resolved the issue by canceling the install and starting it again. This time I initiated the install from the Xbox store instead of the gamepass app. It worked perfectly after that.

As long as your gamepass is active, games that are in the gamepass will run in that section. If you purchased the game seperatly it will work after your subscription is not longer active. Stuff you bought with the discount is your to keep and will work
afterwards too. The only thing you cant use anymore after your subscription is canceled are games you dont purchased and the discounts you get for the addons or games. So dont worry about the games and dlc you already bought. Hope that answers your questions.
