    My devices have stopped working properly after updates, is this hardware or software?


    Today after updating the driver for my Elite Series 2 controller I noticed fast scroll was enabled in the guide, through button testing I found that 'X' was being pressed when I had a profile selected on the controller. When there was not a profile selected the issue would briefly stop. I attempted to dust the controller using air and small amounts of isopropyl alcohol. I power cycled my controller and xbox and connected the controller to my pc with different usb-c cables where the issue did not transfer. Eventually the issue migrated to other buttons being pressed until the controller's main light lit up red, powered off and will not come back on.

    The warranty for my controller ended in September, I followed the request service steps under my registered devices in my live account hoping to at least pay for it to be fixed but the system tells me there are no options available after filling out shipping details. I live in Ohio.

    Additionally, my Series S will recognize and assign my headset to where I can hear but it will not recognize my mic in the xbox party. Again this issue does not transfer to PC, leading me to think there is a greater problem between my 3 devices. Console is updated along with headset and controller. I would appreciate any guidance here thanks.

    All devices do NOT have mandatory updates, and even if they do, they typically don't break the device they're supposed to be improving. I don't mind updates, it's just that Microsoft's updates have a track record of causing issues instead of fixing
    them. This wouldn't happen if updates were properly vetted before there were released. As for warranties, if it were a hardware problem, like a hard drive failure, that would be relevant. But this isn't a hardware problem,it is a software problem and it
    was caused directly by Microsoft. Just tried to factory reset my console but that didn't even work properly error E102.

    Can NOT remove myself from the XBOX PREVIEW! XBOX support is going in circles...

    Did you read my original post? it's not a connection problem. it's a hardware problem on multiple devices! HDMI/screen on/off...

    Oh and the software update isn't showing after removing the preview account/device.

    I have tried an offline update, it shows the same after the update is the same........................

    Xbox One Issues since Feb 14th update.

    I have the same problem with my Kinect. After the update it stopped working (message that kinect is not plugged in). I agree it has to be a software issue.
