My Day by Day Evaluation of the X1

"Downloads taking so long is not the consoles fault.'

Not to derail but this is my one issue. No matter the size the download will do really well until about 75%-80%. Then it just slows. Every single time. Not a big deal but I wonder why it is like that for me. My internet is more than fast enough and
files twice as large as some updates will download quicker just due to this slowdown.

"Okay, so I dl a few GwG titles I had reserved for the X1 and at 10mbps it took all day just to DL the 1st 5 and it's now 6 am the following day and it's still got 22 more to go."

I usually download games while I am away or while I play something offline. I had a friend who was upset about this and he wanted to download everything before he even started playing. He was installing games for a very long time. I asked him to play
and he complained that the Xbox One was just so slow at downloading. He was trying to install 10 full games and some other stuff before he played.

Overall I have found my One to be a better deal so far as compared to my other consoles. The WiiU is up there though because of the great fun with my family. Especially my 2 year old who loves to mess around with the Mario games. I also thought a few
of the deals, around here and online that I saw at least, where better than other deals. I purchased a console for $300 for one of my sons and he gets the bundled games, an extra game, and an extra controller. When you factor in his BC games it will provide
him the best value for the $$.

BOTH of my Xbox Ones are still doing fine. I've never replaced a controller even!

Well... I've had a few issues with my Xbox, but nothing I'd call deal breaking.

Some positivity once in awhile is appreciated!

I'd just like to say that I got my Xbox One 'Day 13' and (according to Goth's math in another thread) that means if I were to give a day by day evaluation of my experience with it, I'd have 725 days worth of posting to cover.

If you guys thought some of my posts were long before... you better hold onto your hats...

 

Xbox live gold

My X1 came with 14 day trial (not a day one), and my PvZ came with a 2 day, DR3 came with a 3 day, Ghosts came with a 7 day.... Lots of trials....

 

I guess I am lucky or what because the majority of my digital downloads take about an hour or so. I dl HMCC and COD BLOPS3 in under a hour and a half. I have my Xboxes connected via ethernet cords at cat 6 each one. My modem connects to my router via cat
6 and my router to my pc with a cat 6.

............

When I do dl anything to my console especially games on or off the disc, I shut everything down on my console and only have the console connected to my router. Sometimes you just gotta dedicate your internet to only one electronic no matter if it gives
you faster dl speeds. It just helps to lessen the distractions in between.

 

Officially Day 3 now.

Good news: Everything to the right >> of the Home tab is up again, even the Use a Code box under All games.

Bad New: Go to play COJ Gunslinger and... Sign in problems. "If the problem persists contact support." So I fire up The Console of the past Decade. (Xbox 360) and no sign in problems whatsoever. Went back and fired up the Xbox One again and - "... If the
problem persists contact support."

Got to be honest at this point. I do not think that the problem is the console, nor my net provider but rather XBL itself as I am of the mind that XBL, even though up and running, has some sign in bugs to work out on their end.

Still haven't put in the Cash codes so that if such glitches turns out to be the X1 console I can get ROTTR for the 360 instead. May do that anyway so that i won't have all my eggs in the same basket.

 

I signed in this morning with no issues whatsoever, Electro. Did you check to see if there was an XBL service alert? If there was, then you'd be right about it being XBL; otherwise, it's likely that you're probably wrong.

So please explain to me how the 360 can sign me in with no issues, but the X1 can't?

Okay, so lets take it from the top. I awake this morning (EST) instant on the X1, and for the 1st time in 3 days. Sign in? Okay! "Circle go around and around and around." - " signed in." UNTIL I go to play a game. COJ Gunslinger. THEN "If the
problem persists contact support."

So I do the same via the 360. No problems whatsoever. Try the X1 again.. "Circle go around and around." - " Signed in." Try COJ Gunslinger and... Signed out. "If problem persists contact support."

So sure. it has to be me that's wrong. Right, okay. Gotcha!

 

the Live service for the 360, and the Live service for the One are not on the same platform and most likely not even on the same servers, it is 2 separate services. and the Live service for the One is most likely having issues in your region, i've seen the
service alerts but haven't experienced any issues signing into Live or playing online.

Day 3 sounded really exciting!



It's Day 716 for me. (for those doing the math, I was a
Day 23 buyer!)

Well, on my 2nd console it's only Day 500ish (I'm not doing the math on that One) I purchased a kinectless bundle when they came out.



As thrilling as it would be for me to do a day by day of
MY experience, I'll pass but I will say this...

Oh wait... I should add I'm a preview member since that program started... (some refer to that as beta testing)

With that said,
BOTH of my Xbox Ones are still doing fine. I've never replaced a controller even! No extended warranties! The preview program never broke my One! (all these things are so exciting I should have made a day by day thread but that would have been very boring
after the first week because there's only so many "I'm having fun playing games on my Xbox One!" a person can take before they find it boring!)



So just to end this... if I had bought an Xbox One that had had any issues what so ever that I didn't like, I wouldn't have wasted any time returning it for a refund. I certainly would have never bought another One. (no
pun intended) That may sound mean, like I don't care if someone had problems with their one. That would be correct. I don't care about other people's One's. I only care about mine... and mine are fine.

How are you signing in?

You can set a default user to sign in as, once you have done that its not an issue from my experience.

I am the only user logged in on it. It auto signs me in at startup and has yet to fail doing so, and until about 20 minutes ago, I couldn't play COJ Gunslinger without being signed out and prompted to call 911 (Support)

Gunslinger is a 360 BC game, so with such games I suspect it sort of signs you in again after the 360 logo comes up. Which is why I initially suspected, and still do. That it was on MS end. For I haven't shut it down since 6 this morning.

I guess this console will have to grow on me some more, but I did try out the optical drive with everything I had. BR/DVD movies, games even Fallout 3 GOTY 2nd DLC disc loaded with no issues.

Goth: My reason for doing a day to day was to not only evaluate the system, but to seek HELP if I needed it.

Thus far that help has been there, with a few exceptions here and there seeking to get me PO'd. Which worked once or twice. So I posted back in like manner and went back to doing other things.

But overall as I suspected. Some have been very forthcoming with links etc that have helped me. Badger for example. So for those, I appropriate your sharing of the links etc.

 

i would check the sign in preferences anyway, it used to be a pain as all the sign ins were originally designed for kinect sign in, and it wouldn't hurt to set it up.

I haven't tried BC yet, so don't know what else to suggest.

 

Gunslinger was a good game, wouldn't mind playing that again! Have you played any One titles yet Electro? Wondered what your first impression was? What did you get with it, Batman?
