    My controllers microphone port is not working properly


    I have owned a halo custom controller for a long time and at my first time plugging a headset in (the one that came with the xbox) it didn't pick up the mic feed. I could hear everyone in my party but they couldn't hear me. I wasn't muted in the party or
    through to cord. The same mic worked on my other controller.

    Mic on new controllers with 3.5mm built in Audio port

    I have two different xbox controllers with the built in 3.5mm audio port and I am trying to use a microphone and earphones with the audio port and it's not working.

    I have a mic and audio splitter that is working on my phone and computer as well as a working mic and earphones. The missing link is the controller.

    Looking online it looks like some people have this problem and others don't... with no explanation.

    I can hear the audio from the xbox but the mic isn't working.

    It's likely that something is stuck in your controllers microphone port making it think it's still plugged in. Check the connector of your microphone and see if it looks like the tip is missing, something like this:

    If there is nothing in the port or the tip isn't broken try blowing into the microphone port. Let us know how it goes!

    Hello,

    This usually means that the controller's microphone port has something stuck in it which could cause a problem like this. If it's only happening on one controller it's likely that if cleaning that microphone port with a thin toothpick or a small object does
    not work, you will need to get the controller repaired (if less than 90 days of date of purchase), or replaced (if it's been longer than 90 days).

    That is right, both gaming headsets use the controller wide port while music headphones use the round 3.5 mm jack port. I only have this controller. All headsets work fine but I can't see that option unless I use the music headphones (which don't have
    microphone). It used to be there with my gaming headset connected a week ago but not now. I want that option for the microphone monitoring and level because you can not control that on the headsets.

    Yes i have tried with different cables, and they both suffer from the same issue - need to bend back to work.

    They also work perfectly well on other devices such as my phone.

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

    Have you tried to use a different cable just to check if it's the controller or the cable itself?

    Also, if you have tried all the necessary steps, replacing the console is indeed the last resort.
