My controller won't turn on I put new batteries. And all it does is just flash and fade out ...

I just got new batteries for my controllers. However, the controller won't sync and exhibits the same problem as the OP described. But if I pop out the new battery and use the old battery, the controller connects immediately. It does this with all three
new batteries that I just received. Maybe I'll try the reset procedure but I have a feeling that it won't work in my case.

Hello Beckett, have you tested new battery and the controller won't turn on, or does it turn on and the Xbox button flashes with a white light?

I don't know if you've tried a test with the USB cable connected directly to your console or PC, but if you haven't tried it yet, remove the batteries from your controller and connect the controller directly to your PC or Xbox.

I have a similar problem. It started happening after the headset firmware update. My sound quality is good. My problem is it will randomly say that my controller died or disconnected on the screen but the controller will still be on. I have to take out the
batteries to turn off the controller. The controller reconnects after I put the batteries back in and turn it back on. I change the batteries thinking that was the problem. But even with fresh new batteries it still does it. I see sharks & nobles posts and
I hope it can all be fixed with the next firmware update. Hope its sooner then later.

To add to this (and bump it) I'm having the same issue. I just got a new Xbox One S to replace my original One. I have two controllers, and older one without the 3.5 mm jack, and the new one that came with the One S. When I plug the new controller in, it
turns on and works like a wired controller. But the amber led on the cable does not turn on and it won't charge the battery pack. It works just fine on the older controller. I've swapped cables and batteries between the two controllers and get the same thing.
The older controller always charges while the new one never does. I've updated them both to the latest firmware. Has anyone figured this out yet?

You could try taking the batteries out of the phantom controller and then turning off all the other controllers and the Xbox, then put the batteries back in and then use that controller to turn on the Xbox.
