my controller won't connect to my pc

Try these steps

1 Connect the controller

2 Restart your PC (with the controller)

3 Check for updates (with the controller inserted)

4 Get the updates (with the controller inserted)

5 Open the device manager

6 Look for the "Xbox peripherals" category

7 Find the controller in that category

8 Right-click on it

Update driver

Scan online automatically

Wait for the update to finish

If there was no update:

Right-click on the driver

Press uninstall

Restart your device.

The controller is able to be connected with my smartphone, but it won't connect to the PC. I insist on the fact that this is happening since I updated the firmware.

so in troubleshooting and deeper looking, it would appear that my PC does not inherently come with bluetooth, the only thing really connecting my controller has been the wireless adapter, although it still doesn't answer why a wired connection won't suffice. it jsut won't pick up the existence of my controller
