My controller shuts off after 2 seconds of being on just started happening yesterday . Why...

Have you tried connecting them using a wired cable?

Also, if this happens with multiple controllers the issue can be with the console itself. Please follow the steps below:

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off. ​​​

2. Unplug your console for 5-10 minutes.

3. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. ​​​

Having the exact same issue with my console. Besides not turning the controller off after the system shuts down, the controller will not turn system on. This just started happening, maybe after the last system update. Very frustrating!

My third party wireless controller is doing the same thing! After 3 weeks of not being used, with fresh recharged batteries it will connect like normal, but only a second or less of "controller 2" being identified and connected, it will die. The light
goes out on the controller. When I have the condole off, the controller doesn't stay lit up like my #1 controller does (came with the slim). I also had everything off, and started the console with the "bad" controller, which became #1, but then shut itself
off, too! Any help yet? There is nothing like this problem in the forums.

Ok so after a week or 2 of this not happening to me, yesterday in the middle of a COD: Black Ops III game it disconnected me from live and reconnected about 5 seconds later. Now, every single hour on the dot it will do the same thing. Why does this just
seem to start happening out of nowhere? I haven't changed anything on my end but all of a sudden it just starts doing it for a while, then goes away... then starts happening again randomly again sometime in future.

Try a reboot on the console

1. Press and hold for 30 seconds the xbox button on the console it should turn off auto

2. Wait after shuts down to turn it on after a few second with the controller button

It should the issue.
