My controller caught fire.

So I was playing COD and all the suddenly my character started spinning around and gun going crazy like I was holding down the trigger then the controller disconnected and a strong smell of burnt electronics and smoke started coming from the controller.
This was a normal controller using the plug and play kit with the usb cable plugged into the xbox one. I was a little bummed my controller blew up but when I went to use my turtle beach xo seven pros on another controller I could not get it to work. Not sure
if the controller took out the headphone dongle as well. Going to try to buy a new controller today to test but sucks as I am out the cost for the controller I dont trust the plug and play kit so a new plug and play kit and maybe a new xo seven pro headset.
That is close to 233$

Wired Controller just caught FIRE!

I too have had the controller for years, along with controllers for every console since 1986, to which non have ever broke.

There have been 3 other occurrences I've read about so far, and while I agree that If someone told me this I too wouldn't believe them.

I still have the controller, and will be taking photos and sending it off to them when I can actually get in contact with them. But its rather hard when phone numbers don't work and there are no "community ambassadors" available.

The reason I haven't already posted pictures is that i'm not trying to make people believe me or boycott wired controllers etc, I just want to let them know and get a replacement. If I don't then I will contact watchdog like I did a few years ago when Microsoft
wrongly banned 1000's of 360's.

I wouldn't expect anyone to just take my word for it, and as I said if someone told me this story i'd be a little suspicious, but the point is, I was just using the controller and it stopped working and caught fire.

I'm not trying to accuse you of anything here but are you absolutely sure it was an officially licensed controller?

 

I had 4 controller and was charging one as soon as its done i take it outto play a game 2 min in it starts to spark and smoke I take the the battery out and put it in to the others the same thing happened. I call Xbox to see if they can help me out. And
they Said nope can't do anything about it because the charger is not made by them. It just sad that I wasted like 240 for nothing. Thank you Xbox for doing this to me. I now have a Xbox one withat no controller. I hope this dose not happen to anyone else because
Xbox will not help you at all
