  1. My console won't connect to the internet.

Hello! So around a week ago I was playing online and at some point I started lagging. I reset my modem/router and when it comes back on I try to reconnect to Xbox Live. I was surprised to find out that not only was my console unable to connect, but when
I tested my connection it could see my network but couldn't connect to the internet. Xbox support was unable to solve my issue. I also tried to connect my console to another network, to see if the problem came from the hardware, but it connected just fine.
I then went over my modem/router's settings and everything seemed to be in order. Note that every other device in my house has no problem connecting to the internet. I really don't want to reset my router's settings so please help me!

    :)

My Xbox won't connect to the internet

Is this a new console (out-of-the-Box)?

What connection type do you use for your Xbox?

Could you provide any troubleshooting steps you've tried so far, so we don't provide you with steps that may only echo back.

Hi Daniel, try clearing your console's cache first. To clear the cache go to settings, system, storage, highlight hdd, press y button, select clear cache and restart your console. If that doesn't work delete profile only and re-download again. Hope this
    helps.

  5. Clearing the cache didn't help. I'd be surprised if it did because, as I mentioned before, I was able to connect to Xbox Live on a different network with no problem. As for your other suggestion, how will I be able to redownload my profile if I can't go
online? I should also note that there are more than one profiles that have an Xbox Live subscription on my console.

    Hello there "DanielFortesqew",

I am sorry to hear about your problem. There are a few steps we can take to seeing if this fixes it. You can try un-plugging your router/modem for 30 seconds - 1 minute, plugging it back in and if that doesn't work try restarting your xbox360. If the problem
    still persists, follow these steps:

From the Dashboard, select Settings, and then select System.

    Select Network Settings.

If you are prompted to select a wireless network, follow these steps; otherwise, skip to step 4:

Select the name of your wireless network.

Enter your wireless network password and select Done. The console will automatically try connecting to Xbox Live.

Note If you do not see the name of your wireless network, select Advanced Options. Then, select Specify Unlisted Network and enter your wireless network name. Select your wireless security type (WEP, WPA, WPA, or No Security). This security type settings
must match the security type of your wireless network.

    Select Configure Network.

On the Basic Settings tab, select Wireless Mode.

Note If wireless mode is not available and you’re using the black Wireless N Networking Adapter, try using the software installation disc included with the adapter.

    Select Scan for Networks.

Select your wireless network name. If your network is not listed, try the following:

Select Specify Unlisted Network, and enter your wireless network name (also referred to as your Service Set Identifier [SSID]).

Select your wireless security: WEP, WPA, WPA2, or No Security (if your network doesn’t have a password).

If you can’t connect to your wireless network, try to improve your wireless signal/connection speed.

Enter your wireless network password, and then select Done.

Note: Make sure that you have entered the correct password. An incorrect password might allow your console to connect to your wireless network, but you might receive an IP address error when you test your Xbox Live connection.

Press B on your controller, and then select Test Xbox Live Connection. From there you'll be able to tell what the problem is.

You can check if Xbox live is up and running by following this link:
    support.xbox.com/.../xbox-live-status

If the problem STILL persists, try calling Microsoft at 1-800-4-my-xbox (1-800-469-9269). Thank you for your time, I hope your problem gets fixed, have a nice day.

  8. My console won't connect to the internet.

Firstly I would like to thank you all for your feedback. To MaximumExtereme, when I test my Xbox Live connection I get an internet error, meaning that my console identifies the network but cannot connect to the internet. To Valkyrie210 as I mentioned I'm
getting an internet error, not an Xbox Live error when I'm testing my connection. I should have mentioned earlier that I'm using an Xbox 360 Slim wired to my modem/router, so I don't need an adapter.

The XBOX ONE Story - What I found so far

I won't buy any console that needs an internet connection. It is a huge privacy risk to have a console with a camera that connects to the internet. A console that connects to the internet once per day or once per week has the same privacy risk as a console
    with an always-on connection.

Gamers should boycott Xbox One so the console manufacturers get the message that we won't accept a required internet connection. If a physical disk is inserted in the console, no internet connection should be needed to prevent piracy. The console manufacturers
just have to develop a proprietary disk format that can't be copied by Windows, Mac or Linux. It would be fine if gamers who don't want to put a physical disk in the console to prove they own the game are required to have an internet connection. That way,
if a gamer wants to prevent game companies from spying on them, they would just swap disks when switching games. If a gamer uses LIVE or they want the convenience of not needing to swap disks, they would provide an internet connection.
