My console does not turn on the internet

I have the same problem, it's very annoying. I unable to play multiplayer with my pals and download my cloud saves. Turning both my console and internet router on and off does nothing.

The first thing I would recommend trying is to remove the consoles power cable from the wall outlet for waiting for two minutes, whilst waiting please remove and reconnect the power cable from the console and power brick to ensure they are both secure then
reconnect everything and attempt to power up the console.

ADSL? XBL is best utilized with a broadband connection. Depending on your network speed it may be good enough though. Go to speedtest.net on your laptop and run three tests; one close to you, one far from you and one in between.
Then post the download/upload and ping for each test here.

I'm thinking if this is a compatibility issue on the router, the devices wouldn't connect at all , not kicking the other device off. resetting the router allows the devices back on , even for a short time.

TBH it sounds like the IP addresses are not being distributed correctly. and when the new device is requesting the IP address from the router, it is getting confused which token to assign the device. and assigning the laptop IP to the xbox.

i would do a hard reset on the router and recreate your wifi network. a pain i know, but worth a shot.
