MY brand new Xbox Series X overheats and crashes when I play a game

I'm sorry to hear that. Here are the steps that you can try for your concern.

Solution 1. Power cycle your console

Please Turn off console > (press and hold power button for 10 seconds) unplug everything from the console > wait for 2 minutes and plug everything back > Turn On the console.

Solution 2.Try removing your account and add it back again.

To remove your account:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.

Select the account that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm.

To add it again:

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

Select Sign in.

Select Add & manage.

Select Add new.

Enter your Microsoft account email address and password.

Solution 3. Try to do a soft factory reset without removing any games and apps.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Settings > System > Console info > reset then keep my games and apps.

NOTE: This will delete the profiles on your account, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

That didn't work, I even set the resolution to 720p on a hunch, and the problem still persists. After having another look, the fan in the exhaust appears to be spinning and I feel air blowing out of it, but don't hear a sound.

How do I request for a service on my series X?

Hey, I tried all 3 of your suggestions, but none of them worked.

On a hunch, I noticed that this problem only happens when I run Cyberpunk and when I leave it to idlely run on the dashboard, the problem doesn't occur.

I think that it might have something to do with the console finding the game graphically intensive. I also noticed that there is no buzzing of the fan, so perhaps the fan doesn't work.

Of course, I have never opened up an Xbox series X before, so I don't know how it works internally

On your Xbox, please go to Settings - tv and display options - set the resolution to 1080 - under Advanced to the right click on video modes - uncheck Allow 4K and HDR10. Then restart your console and launch the game. In case the issue still persist, you might want to request for a service.
