    My big black paper weight.


    I have had my XBOX One for less than 30 days (purchased 5/28/2014); and it is broken! It will not play disks. I call customer support and I am told that I can wait 14+ business days or I can give them $15.00 plus put a hold on my credit card for $500.00.
    Really? If I don't like those options, I can try my luck at the retailer or live with a useless black paper weight.

    I have been with XBOX since launch of the 360 and went through 4 different Xbox's. I have been loyal to Xbox but I cannot seem to get in return. I plan on telling everyone to never buy a XBOX ONE, because if it breaks they will not help you try and resolve
    the matter reasonably.

    I go to play infinite warfare on my xbox one s a couple days ago only to find that my console wont power on. I know that my console is shortly out of warranty but i call microsoft anyway becase the consol has maybe 25 hours of play time on it, is never
    used for movies, tv or apps. Games only! And yet here it sits, completly usless. Microsoft refuses to repair the console unless i pay $150+. I understand that people abuse and neglect their consoles. I also know that the techs can tell if this is the case
    when they look at the console. I even told them that if they received it and saw that it was abused i would pay for the repair. No dice. They refused to stand behind their product without more money. I, like most people cannot afford to go to best buy and
    pay to replace a console after a year of light use. Nor can i afford to pay 2/3rds of the cost of a new one for them to fix what shouldnt have broken. J have been an xbox live customer for years but no longer. Im very disspaointed in the way microsoft handled
    this and cannot afford to pay the high price for their products when the longevity nor customer service is there when something gos wrong. R.I.P Microsoft

    The reason for the $500 hold on your card is to ensure you send back your console while they send you a new one. It is a simple security measure to avoid fraudulent claims.

    As you bought it less than 30 days ago you should go via the retailer though for speed.

    I realize why they do it, but there is also a thing called "customer service". Even if they couldn't send a new Xbox which is understandable they could have offered overnight service. For a system that is being outsold by its competitor 1.5 to 1, you would
    think that a company would want to keep there loyal fan base happy.

    Yes I can go to the retailer but I am in a rural area and the drive is almost 1 hour.

  6. this is why i have yet to buy an xbox one and why ill stick with my 360 because microsoft are shady hell they are under investigation by the FTC for consumer fraud and trade violations !!!!

    Of course microsoft will put a $500 hold on your credit card and purposely delay the shipping so you have to pay the $500 one of my friends IRL had this happen to him he contacted the BBB in the end microsoft paid him back the $1000 he spent on friggin
    defective console > seeing how this is stil happening report it here if you are in the US

    Microsoft is willing to work with you, and as stated you can even return it for an immediate replacement to the store purchased. There is no issue here, it's simple and very normal business practice.

    The above post should be ignored as the BBB is completely a voluntary program, and has no control on a business policy or actions towards a customer. Also calling the FTC will do nothing either as they do not work on a case by case basis with individuals
    but with manufacturing companies on mass volume problems that violate code.

    Putting a charge on your card is pretty standard. Google did it when I had to return a broken Nexus 5. Amazon do it. They have to, because of scammers who will order a replacement console and then say they've returned the "broken" one when it wasn't even
    broken in the first place and they just kept it.

    Personally, if I was you I'd just make the 1 hour drive and get the console swapped out for a new one with the retailer. That's the quickest and easiest solution.
