    My battery of my controller exploded and it was very hot...... I had to throw it out of the window ****....

    Xbox one s controller charging.

    NO YOU CAN NOT (at least not rechargeable Mignon AA batteries)

    The Xbox can't know if you have rechargeable AA batteries in it or disposable batteries.

    If the controller started to charge non-rechargeable batteries, they might catch fire or explode in your hand.

    Microsoft can't let that happen, as people would sue Microsoft to bankruptcy if a controller accidentally charged a non-rechargeable AA battery and it exploded in their hands, getting corrosive battery fluid in the wound and all over their clothes.

    Therefore, the Xbox controller will NOT charge the normal, rechargeable AA batteries, as the console can't determine if it is a real rechargeable battery or not.

    If you look into the battery compartment, you will see some small golden contacts between the bigger battery contacts. Those are the contacts to charge Play & Charge battery packs.

    ONLY THESE CONTACTS will be able to charge the rechargeable battery packs from the Play & Charge kit.

    Sent in my controller 4 times for repairs only to still be broken.

    If I had to speculate, They likely are sending it back because a battery exploding is not covered. Only manufacturing defects in the controller itself.

    Hi KI11RB33! To answer your question, the controller connects via a standard "micro" style USB cable, so if you have one of that size and shape, you can use it, and the controller will work plugged in via USB with no battery. This can be more convenient
    than using regular AA batteries! Just make sure to unplug the batteries when plugged in, because I don't know for sure, but if the standard batteries take any kind of "charge" from the cable, they could explode (standard batteries can explode if plugged into
    any charger.

    Well, it doesn't really charge the Rechargeable Battery, it over-charges it @ at a different V/I/R & causes damage to the controller at the same time, while reducing Battery Life of the Rechargeable Battery Pack...

    So NO, it doesn't charge it, it damages it..

    Like you can talk anyway OG Pooh... You think an Energizer Charge Station is the same as a Proprietry Xbox Play & Charge Kit with Rechargeable Battery Pack.. (Designed to ONLY be charged off the Xbox console)...

    You are risking your own safety, by charging the controller off a PC USB port as the PC USB interfaces have higher amp ratings than the Xbox360 console & "the Battery Could Explode"....

    Overcharge a sealed 12V Battery & see what happens... It expands & explodes...
