    My backwards compatible 360 games have stopped working. How can I fix this?


    I have several Xbox 360 games on my Xbox One S that have backwards compatibility, and that have been running smoothly. A few days ago, my Xbox stopped letting me play any 360 games, claiming either that the games are not backwards compatible (which would
    surprise me, given that they have been for the last few months), or simply does not find the disc to read the license.

    I've done some searching and troubleshooting to try and fix this issue:

    • The Xbox still reads all games that aren't 360 games without issue, including Xbox one game discs and DVDs
    • The Xbox 360 discs are not dirty or damaged, they work without issue on my old Xbox 360
    • Fully restarting the Xbox (switching power mode and holding the button for 10 seconds) did not help
    • Soft resetting the Xbox (keeping installed games and apps) did not help
    • To be safe I checked the backwards compatibility lists: the games have not been removed from them
    • There are no service issues for theses games
    I'm a bit at a loss as to what else I can do. The only other option I've found in support is to replace a disk, but it's not a single disc that isn't working, it's all 360 games that I've attempted to play on the Xbox One.

    I'm sorry to say but Microsoft stopped working on backwards compatibility, so it'll never work on your 360.

    If you're both playing the 360 verisons, it will work.

    How can it be done? I have 360 version of Ghosts, my friend has the One version of Ghost, is there a 360 version of Ghost that can run on One?
    Your friend would have to purchase the game for the 360, since that is what is backwards compatible, and play that version from his One in order to play with you. The One version is seen as a separate version of the game.

    There is no backward compatible version of CoD: Ghost.
    Ghost has been backwards compatible since June.

    If the game is not on the current possible to play backwards compatibilities then it will not come as Xbox have stopped working on backward compatibilities to focus on nextgen

    Not all Original Xbox games is able to be played on Xbox 360.

    Games needs to be added to the backward compatible library to be able to be played on the 360 or the One. Seeing as they have stopped bringing games to backward compatibility, team has been reassigned to work on Project Scarlett, we might see more games
    added in the future.

    The Xbox Original Games will only work on Xbox One, because the Xbox 360 is not retro compatible.
    Backwards compatibility is available on the 360. You can find a list of backwards compatible games for the 360 here
