You should be able to. From my own experience, my old 360 controller has worked fine on Android. Quite a few games actually support controllers from the get go. Real Racing 3 worked straight away.

Since the 360 isn't Bluetooth, you'll need to connect a wired controller to the USB port. And, it
must be a true wired controller, play and charge won't work.

the answer is it is a wireless controller they dont work with the usb charging cable ive tried it on windows 7 and 10 you need a proper wired controller apparently.

That's true for 360 controllers, but not Xbox One. The Xbox One controllers work wired and via wireless on PC. My wiress controllers all work fine via the micro USB cable on my PC.

Windows 7 doesn't come with drivers built in to the OS though, they may need need to be downloaded manually if Windows update isn't picking up the controller.

Have you tried using another headset with the controller or a different controller to see if that changed anything? What brand and model headset are you using?
