My account was stolen right now

I don't understand how a company as big as Microsoft can allow this kind of thing to happen to users, is there no security for the accounts? I've spent thousands of dollars every year buying games only for someone to come and steal my account without paying anything for it at all. I'm super upset and if someone doesn't help me get my account back I'm going to switch to PlayStation.

Thanks for your instructions, I didn't remember that this form existed although this problem had happened to me before and thanks for mentioning the two-step verification thing, I didn't know that was possible at Microsoft.

Now, regarding Microsoft's security, I wanted to mention that they always advise users to activate two-step verification (MFA) to provide greater security to the accounts and so that these types of cases do not occur again. Sorry it's not a billing issue. My account has been stolen, and Microsoft support has charged me to restore my accounts but that didn't happen. Now I can't access anything to do with the email address and my Live account has been stolen?? As of right now
I can't even log on to my PC and support is once again trying to fix it. How was this my fault, and why am I being charges?
