    My account has been hacked and when I try to request recovery it says it 'does not exist'...


    My account was hacked and the password changed. My attempts at recovery so far have been unsuccessful, with Microsoft not even responding to them or rejecting them instantly, too quickly for them to have been investigated surely.

    I have today received an email with a receipt for an Xbox game purchase - this was not me as I do not have access to the account.

    Whenever I try to request help from Microsoft, they require me to log in (hence why I have made another account just to ask this question) and I of course can't.

    Now, when I type my email into the sign-in helper it says "no issues detected" but then when I go to try and reset password or recover account it is now saying that the account does not exist. This is the part I don't understand as someone is actively using my Xbox account and has made a purchase which has been emailed to my 'not recognised' email?!

    I am genuinely at a loss at where to go from here - I have blocked access for Microsoft to my bank account but do I just have to sit by while someone is using my Xbox account (under the same gamertag) and accessing my emails which were set up to link with my other account (which has been secured - not Microsoft) so may be able to access all sorts of information?

    I am really worried that nothing will be done and really wish I could get in contact with an adviser because I am going round in circles.

    Help would be much appreciated!!

    My Account Vanished!!

    It's more than just being hacked, and none of those will work because it now says that the account no longer exists meaning it got deleted. Which means I've lost minecraft on that account and have to make a complete new account and buy it again. When you try and sign in or put that email in any recovery spot that says to provide that email it will continue to say "The Microsoft account you've entered does not exist"

    Hi. Whenever I try and use one of the account recovery methods, it doesnt work. When I try and sign into microsoft account recovery with my email it says that the email doesnt exist. However, I know the account exists as I bought minecraft with it. Is there anything I can do about this or is my minecraft and microsoft account lost forever?

    Hey Darhyl,

    I checked my account's username through Email & Accounts in settings, and it was correct. It still did not let me sign in though. I don't know if it was hacked either, as when I try to use the "recover hacked account" option, it says that my username does not exist.

    I have not been able to access my hotmail account for 6 days, I believe it may have been hacked or compromised as my password no longer works.

    I have been trying to get it recovered but no success as yet using the recovery form from microsoft.

    The hotmail account I have had for over 15 years and is linked to virtually everything I do online and I am running out of options?

    I recently went on holiday and my ebay account was also hacked, Ebay have now sorted this but I think my hotmail account has been targeted.

    Unfortunately the recovery email address linked to my account no longer exists and I cannot use that to rset the password.

    What do I do next?

    Hi guys just to add on this is the email I got in reply to my request on my old account reactivation

    "We have determined the Microsoft account -my previous email address- does not exist. This is normally caused by an account being set to inactive, the account was deleted, or the account has expired. The account recovery request with issue number 636xxxxx
    has been closed.

    Please note the following:

    A Microsoft account will be set to an inactive status if a user has not signed in to Hotmail for a period of 270 days.

    A Microsoft account will be deleted if a user has not signed in to an account within 365 days."

    I thus created another microsoft account, this one, and have been trying to tie my xbox GT to it. But in order to do so I need to have access to my previous microsoft account that has been deactivated.
