My (A) button isn't working outside of games.

My (A) button will not work outside of a game, I can use it in game no problem but if I go to my friends list etc it will not work unless I hold it down and spam it for roughly 20secs. I've tried everything including USB. How do I fix this?

Restart your console: Make sure you have tried restarting your console. This can solve many problems

Reset the controller: Many controller problems can be resolved by putting them through a complete power cycle. To power cycle the controller: Press and hold the Xbox button for 5-10 seconds, until the controller turns off. Wait a few seconds and press and hold the Xbox button again to turn the controller back on.

Update controller firmware: Under Profile & System, select Settings. Under Devices & connection, select Accessories. On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “…” to check the firmware version of your controller. If it says no update available, the driver is up to date

Do you have a third-party headset plugged into your console? If yes, can you please completely unplug the headset and not plug it back in the headset and then try launching the game.

My controller isn't the problem. All of my buttons seem to be working perfectly besides the Xbox button. Whenever I press it, it opens up the menu in a delayed way. I can't even access the troubleshoot page.
