My 3 month Xbox live card won't work. It's says it hasn't been activated, but it has.

I purchased a 3 month card, my xbox would not allow me to activate it on the system, it kept telling me my password was associated with another live profile, however it would allow me to activate it on my laptop with the same info I tried to input in the
xbox, so now my card is activated but won't go to my system with my profile

They will probably just offer a months trial or something.

If you buy a gift crad, gamepass or xbox live card from a store and you get an error message saying it hasn't been activated return to merchant. That is the stores fault not microsofts. You can try xbox support, they might ask for numbers on the back
of the card or to take pictures of the front and back of the card then email them. I've been through this experience with walmart before. The card is activated when it is scanned by the cashier. So something went wrong there. I had to go to the store twice.
The first time they said once the card leaves the store it isn't there problem. Luckily on my second visit there were much nicer people working. They couldn't active the card but I got a refund.

The free month of LIVE is only offered to newly created accounts. Since you say your account has been active all week, then it is impossible for you to redeem a free month. If this is some new offer I am not familiar with, then in order to sign up for memberships
you need a credit card assigned to your account or it will not work.
