MW11 cross gen disc false advertising?

I had the very same problem today and - after Googling and searching Twitter - it appears that we’re far from the only people. My disc also would not load. To show how silly this was I tried my old Modern Warfare 1 disc from 3 years ago and it loaded straight away.

Weirdly, the disc apparently only has less than 100MB on it with the rest of the game requiring downloading from the Microsoft store.

Which allows the farcical position where your Xbox shows that you have everything installed (takes over 100GB from your storage while doing so) but when trying to play the game it tells you you need to purchase the game. Which confirms that at no point the disc is in your machine it has been recognised as the disc is nothing other than the license to play the game, with all the content to actually “play” the game not on the disc in the first place.

Wasted way too many hours of Christmas Day than should be normal trying to play an Xbox game!

I’ve seen accounts from people who have returned their discs for a new one and the same problem happens again so it doesn’t appear that there’s a quick fix on this.

Whether it’s a problem with Microsoft or Activision it doesn’t look like either is in any hurry to fix it.

Mines is an Xbox One which confirms this problem is not exclusive to one machine.

Come on, Microsoft. Do something about it!

Hey! The standard edition of EA FC24 includes both the last-gen and current-gen versions. Cross-gen multiplayer is not supported, cross-play is only available for the same console generation. Meaning that the PS5, PC and Series X versions can play cross platform, while PS4 and Xbox One can also play cross platform, but separate from current gen versions.

I’m trying to get the latest optimized version of vanguard with my last gen disc as that’s the one I bought for the cross gen option of the game

If a disc based console is sold and then changes to all digital it would be false advertising. Come on, I really had to say that?

i think it is something to do with the cross gen discs im trying to get a refund of the supplier
