    Muted microphone symbol


    Hi,

    We have an xbox one that has recently stopped allowing my son to chat with his friends. The microphone symbol is showing with a line through it at all times.

    I have done some research into this as well as tried live chat and cal back, but seem o be getting nowhere.

    We have bought a microsoft recommended headset, we have two wireless xbox controllers.

    I have tried what I believe to be absolutely everything up to a reset of the console, but keeping games and apps, but still to no avail.

    If anyone could help I know my son would be eternally grateful.

    If You Have A Xbox Insider Build This Can Cause Bugs Throughout The Console. Also Check If There Has Been A Party Chat Ban Or If The Microphone Has Been Muted In Party. Hope This Helped You! :)

    Try downloading the Xbox Insider App onto the console, from the app store and then open it up and on the landing page go to settings>manage devices and remove it from the program, if it is listed there.

    Has your son enrolled his console into the Xbox Insider Preview or is it a pre-owned console? I ask because there is a known issue regarding headsets in the Insider Preview build.
