Muted mic Xbox one s

Hello

My xbox one s has a muted mic symbol on the top right of the screen. I cannot hear nor speak to anyone.

So far.....I have.....

1. Bought a new controller

2. Bought a new headset

3. Tried a different account on console

4. Spoken to 3 microsoft helpers

5. Account is not banned

6. Everything is open and allowed

7. Resetted back to factory

8. NAT setting is open

and still it is not resolved.

The microsoft man said to send my new controller to germany because he thinks this some how got a fault in it as soon as i plugged the new headset in.

so i then tried another controller not associated with my console but works on another console.

Again nothing

can anybody please help me x

Do you recommend me still trying that adaptor thing? Its just a bit odd coz it worked in the morning. And then it just turned in the afternoon.

Ive tried microsoft help in the phone. And they think its just the headset. And controllers. But i went and bought new that day.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry to hear it. You seem to have tried everything so far. I might recommend trying your headset on a friends console or see if you can get a headset adapter if you're simply using the jack.

It depends on what headset you are using. There can be issues with Apple specific connectors picking up the microphone since they use a slightly different 3.5mm jack configuration.

Also, check under settings > Account > Privacy and Online Safety and check your communication setting.

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. I'd be happy to help you figure this out.

Based on your troubleshooting, it's possible that your headset is not compatible with your console's and controller's current firmware, which can happen if you connect via 3.5mm connection. What headset are you using?

On the other console and controller where it worked, did you use the same account? Was the controller plugged in via a micro-USB cable? Did you check under System and Update settings to make sure both console's are on the same operating system version?

If you haven't done so, try the headset on your controller while plugged in via a micro USB cable and check in the Xbox Accessories app that the controller is up to date.

A solution to this issue would also to locate an
Xbox One headset adapter if it turns out your headset isn't compatible and the adapter should make it compatible.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums.

If you have tried different controllers, and different headsets, then perhaps it could be indicating that this is a problem with your network.

What is your
NAT type currently set to? If you have anything other than an "Open" NAT type, this could be the cause of the problem.

If this is the case, I would recommend that you try using the
Xbox One Multiplayer Game Solution wizard and see if that does the trick for you!

Give it a try and let us know your results!
