Muted Mic Symbol

I've noticed that there is a muted mic symbol by the battery icon that I can't figure out how to unmute. I can't hear ppl in game lobbies anymore. I thought it was Xbox live security settings but everything looks good to me on that end. Help.???

muted myself yet can still hear and chat

i also tried unplugging my turtle beach and using standard xbox headset and bought another xbox headset and same thing still.

also when i unplug or plug in my headset the mic symbol does not change still says muted regardless if mic is plugged in or not the mic symbol never leaves

 

"Muted" Myself In Gears of War 3! Need Help!

It seems I am not really Muted but it shows I am, it shows the Mute Symbol on the Mic in Party Chat also, kinda annoyed by this.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. There are a few things that can be causing this to happen. Have you been able to test your headset on a different controller? Or if possible, a different headset?

Is your controller up to date fully?

Your network could affect this as well. You can verify your
NAT type from your network settings. Perferably, you would want this
set to open.

My Network is good and I tried 2 different controllers. The icon is there even when I’m not using my headset.

We suggest checking trying to sign out of the profile and sign back in (IF AND ONLY IF THE ACCOUNT INFORMATION IS KNOWN) since this could be an error on the profiles end. If that doesn't work we suggest trying a reset since
the problem might be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a
Soft Factory Reset
(while keeping games and apps) IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

• There is a stable network connection.
• The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)

Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup lets do manual setup. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

 

If I do a soft factory reset will all my game data save? I won’t loose all my progress in the games I’ve played?

Short answer no, there is no way to loose the data but when you select reset console it will give 3 options.
Reset and remove everything, Reset and keep my games & apps, and Cancel. It is very important to select the second option, this will NOT make you re-download
the data. Give it a shot and let us know if we can further assist!

 

I reset the xbox and it didn’t help. It’s still muted.

• What headset are you using?

I recommend to take a look at the following troubleshooting resources:

• Make sure your controller has fresh batteries. When the batteries get weak, some controller functions, such as audio and rumble, are turned off to conserve the remaining power.
• Make sure your Headset Adapter is firmly plugged into your controller and that your Stereo Headset’s 3.5-mm cable is securely plugged into the Headset Adapter. You will know
  it’s plugged in properly if you press the mute button and the LED lights up.
• Try your Xbox One Stereo Headset with another device, such as a laptop, to see if the headset is working. If not, the headset will need to be replaced. To order a replacement,
  go to the Xbox Online Service Center.
• Try your Stereo Headset and Stereo Headset Adapter on another controller, if you can. If the headset works on the second controller, try
  updating the first controller again.
  
• Check to see if the
  Xbox One controller and headset compatibility
• If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the
  Xbox Online Service Center.
