    help is very much appreciated as I have spent days trying to unmute my daughters xbox one S, its not the headset x 3 as they all work on a phone, ive tried going into settings and checking everything as well as via my account as parent to check privacy etc
    and all fine. I only bought this st xmas and even bought an adapter for controller to no avail, the mic symbol permanently has a line through it!!!

    Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
    Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
    Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

    If that doesn't help try with another controller to see if the controller is bad. You can also get an adapter as others have said that resolves the issue. I use the adapter and have never had any issues.

    Hello Mls,

    Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. For the privacy settings you can log onto the parent account, then go to privacy settings on the child account and look them over. As for the mic symbol, plug the headset into the adapter and then into the
    controller, then go and update the controller. Please try this and let us know. I have other options we can try.

    we have tried this about 10 times as well as buying an xbox adapter that arrived today. The controller is the only one we have but in happy to but another. I do wonder if as I am not good with tech thi gs, I have accidentally done something under parental
    controls as my daughter is a child so set up family

    if I try to talk to my friends they cant hear me as if my mic is permanently muted when I try to mute or unmute no light shows sometimes my friends can hear me but then it goes again. I looked up this problem to fix it but apparently that if the mic is muted
